In English traditionally we make comparisons using the traditional forms of comparatives and superlatives as you can see above:
However, in the book we are introduced to other ways of comparing like:
It was different from all the restaurants he has gone to.
He as tall as her sister.
They are very similar to their cousins.
This flat is far smaller than the old one.
